GDPR Harmonisation Objective for 2025

The Presidential Decree dated 29 October 2024 and numbered 9074 on the approval of the “Presidential Annual Programme for the Year 2025” (“Annual Programme”) regarding the objectives and programmes for the year 2025 has been published in the Official Gazette dated 30 October 2024 and numbered 32707 (Recurrent).

According to the Annual Programme, one of the measures planned to be taken in the year 2025 is the completion of “works for the harmonisation process of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data with the EU acquis, in particular, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”)”.

In accordance with this objective, it can be expected that the Law on the Protection of Personal Data will be harmonised with the GDPR and the necessary steps for harmonisation with the European Union acquis will be taken in 2025 by eliminating the disparities between the two regulations as possible.
