Updates on Consumer Disputes and Administrative Fines for 2025
Pursuant to the Communiqué of the Ministry of Commerce published in the Official Gazette dated 20.12.2024 and numbered 32758, the monetary threshold for consumer disputes to be resolved by consumer arbitration committees has been increased by 43.93%, which is the reevaluation rate, and has been determined as TRY 149,000. Accordingly, in 2025, disputes up to TRY 149,000 will be resolved by provincial and district consumer arbitration committees.
Furthermore, with a second Communiqué of the Ministry of Commerce, administrative fines imposed pursuant to the Law on Consumer Protection (“Law”) have also been increased by 43.93%, which is the reevaluation rate. Accordingly, administrative fines ranging from TRY 2,172 to TRY 423,905,853 in 2024 under the Law will be applied within the range of TRY 3,166 to TRY 610,127,694 in 2025.
