Türkiye’s First Climate Law Published!

The Climate Law numbered 7552 (“Law”), published in the Official Gazette dated 9 July 2025 and numbered 32951, introduces Türkiye’s first comprehensive climate framework law aligned with the national net-zero emission target for 2053.

The Law establishes a wide range of regulatory instruments including a national Emissions Trading System (ETS), carbon crediting and offsetting mechanisms, Türkiye Green Taxonomy (TGT), and a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). It also regulates local climate planning obligations, enforcement procedures, and financing tools to support green transformation in both the public and private sectors.
